A symbol of the new Ireland;
A Chinese harpist
Playing Irish music
On the top of Grafton Street
Beside him, an old Gael,
Ambassador of the past
Playing the flute and tin whistle.
As they play Carolan’s Concerto
(To my delight and surprise)
It shows me:
Thanks to the Chinaman,
At least not all remnantsOf our being will be lost.
